Straight Razor Restoration & Honing Service

I recently received my grand father’s straight razor from being restored. The razor came back beautifully polished and honed. The scales were polished and looked new over all I am very pleased with the restoration service and I am looking forward to a shave with my razor. Great job Razor Emporium!!!

Excellent service and was able to track my package on the way back. It came back honed nicely and signed with approval of inspection by Sal. I am very impressed and appreciative of this company and their services.

I will start off by saying that I did have to send my straight razor back after receiving it back the first time. The reason I gave 4 stars is because the razor is absolutely beautifully honed, and that goes for both times I got it back from Razor Emporium. My disappointment is with the restoration/polish that I paid extra for. Do not expect it to look as good as the before and after pictures. I have a Dubl Duck Goldedge that I sent to be polished and honed, and the only thing that looked even the slightest bit poished was the blade. The scales did not even appear to be cleaned as there was still gunk in between them from it sitting in storage for decades and the gold colored metal inlay on the scales was not touched at all. Getting it back the second time and it is still probably only 2/3rds as polished as their pictures. To their credit they did take it back and redo it for no extra charge, but I would only ever send in a straight razor to be honed from now on, which is disappointing cause I have loved every other product that I have gotten from Razor Emporium, even the cheap gold dollar straight razor.

I sent a straight razor in for honing, and they didn't do a good job sharpening it. To be fair, it was returned sharper than I had sent it, amd you can actually shave with it, but I've had razors honed by other vendors that came back night-and-day sharper than this one did. If you just picked this one up, you'd think it was time to go have it honed again.

Other details of the transaction were good. Payment was easy, service was quick and it was sent back with tracking info. The whole thing took about 2 weeks, including shopping.

Once again my DOVO razor was returned for the sharpness I've come to expect: Excellent! It took a little longer than expected but now on to my Genco razors for honing. Thank You!

I sent in my Radior Sabre to be honed and polished. When I bought it from another source it did not have a very good edge. Matt and the gang did an outstanding job with it. Now it slices through my facial hair like a hot knife through butter. Awesome job!

This was a razor that my father bought in 1948 in Germany because blades were hard to find. So, it looks great again. Anxious to use it.

I sent my grandfather's straight razor in for a complete revamp. The scales were cracked, and even though the blade was in good shape to be nearly 100 years old, it needed to be polished and honed.

I requested Classic scales on my order, but when the razor was returned to me it had Sleek scales installed. I originally requested G10 material thinking it would most closely match the 1930's flat black scales, but it did not. I returned the razor, and Emily was very helpful, authorizing a return and changing the scale material to cocobolo wood. When the razor came back to me for the second time, it was much better, but one end was rounded off at an angle rather than having both sides of the pivot end square to each other.

As I am a woodworker and not wanting to return the razor for yet more work, I squared the end, gently rounded the sharp edges of the scales and polished the wood to my liking.

I'm happy with the way it looks now, but would have been happier if it had come back to me without needing my woodworking experience to finish it.

Note on G10 scale material: I have never seen raw G10 scale material before, but I wonder if it would have been more appealing if it had been shaped and polished. I'm thinking that it may have just been the factory surface/finish that was unpleasing.

Simply the best. They took good care of my expensive. They contacted me Honing done very well.

I expected so much more from a company with your reputation. The lack of effort and craftsmanship you put into this razors scales is completely disappointing. Please try harder and take some pride in your product. I just wasted my money on the ugliest set of scales that were unfinished and a wedge that is completely too thick. Why even offer the service if you aren’t even going to try?

I sent two razors and they come back in great condition. I love the razors.

Razor Emporium started me off with a straight razor kit that included an upgrade to the razor at no extra cost. And when I sent the razor back after one shave for a honing it was done with no squabbling though in hindsight the razor was perfectly sharp to begin with. Recently, I sent Razor Emporium a vintage razor for polishing and honing. It came back in superb condition, sharp enough to rival the new razor. Does it sound like I'm impressed with Razor Emporium? Yes.

Initially I was not content with the scale of my razor however afters peaking with the rep, my razor was returned and completed nicely. Great honing and polishing.

I am not sure where these bad reviews are coming from. My experience was completely different. I would honestly give 10 stars if I could. The process was seamless from the start. I was weary to send in my grandfathers old straight razor as its really important to me. From the start there was communication. I knew when it arrived at the shop, as they updated me via email. I also knew when the service was completed as they emailed me again. The same day I received a tracking number and an email stating it had shipped and was on its way to me. I was able to track when it would get to me and when it would be delivered. The person servicing my razor even texted me directly and let me know that I would probably want to polish the razor to get some rust off of the blade if I wanted to shave with it later. I don't cry often or get emotional, but when I was able to see my grandfathers razor again after the restoration I completely broke down. Whoever you have taking care of this service is 10/10. I will be sending anyone I know that would benefit from this service to work with you guys and I will continue to put trust in your company and service for a lifetime.

This was HORRIBLE. I have previously used Razor Emporium sharpening and was very happy with the service. This time I sent 4 straights and they came back unusably dull. I complained and paid to send 'em back and they returned still EXTREMELY DULL. I will have to send them elsewhere to be sharpened. I am very disappointed and lo longer recommend their service.

I purchased the restore service, my razor still had some black marks when I received my razor back. The blade is nicely honed and cuts well. Otherwise 5 stars.

When my beloved razor came back after six weeks it seemed, how can I put this, dull.

Restore job was good but the hone job was suspect. It was an extremely unpleasant shave.

I've had my razors honed twice now by Razor Emporium. Each time there has been a fast turn around and they come back ready to use right out of the packaging.

I get a babies botton type of shave from the Razor that was honed by Razor Emporuim., very satisfied with te results .
