Rex Supply Co. | 1966 Old World Tallow Shaving Soap

I want to give an honest review. I bought the 1966 soap almost a year ago and loved its scent so much that I bought the splash and balm. It has been one of my favorite scents by a large margin. Because of that I bought the sample set and It gotta admit it was the only of the 19** scents I actually liked which surprised me. That said I think the soap in general is amazing. I have several other brands and the 1966 lathers so well for me and is thick and slick. It compares to the others well and I think it doesn't get enough recognition. I'll definitely be buying extras.

I really enjoy using this shave soap it has a nice light scent that performs very well. I will be trying out new scents in the future. Great stuff!

I bought the sample pack and liked it so much that I came back for the big tub. The soap produces a thick rich lather and provides a great shave. I love the clean scent as well. It is a little bright, with some warmer undertones without being scent-heavy. Great product.

Excellent product. Same applies to the 1955 soap I purchased. Very satisfied. Superior lathering, and the scents literally transport you back in time. The adage "you get what you pay for" especially applies here.

Best scent out of the 3 rex soaps/aftershaves.

My favorite of any soap thus far. Superior soap base ad the scent perfect, the balm & splash give a little more of the sweet citrus scent ... love it ..... you should get with PAA and have them make this into a deodorant !

I tried this shaving soap for the first time. This soap lathers very well.

I started with the 1955 which I absolutely love, and decided to try the 1966 and 1977 as well. The 1955 is such a perfect scent, so it is hard to beat. Start with that if you want to try one of these. The 1966 is a simpler scent, mostly citrus/orange and sweet. Very pleasant. The 1977 is just not for me though. It doesn’t read as leather to me, it honestly comes off chemically/gasoline with that bite. The 1977 is VERY strong scented. Recommend ordering a sample if that’s available to get the scent.

This lathers up super quick and gives you a slick shave. Just a wonderful experience. The tub really has a tangerine scent while the splash is more Bergamot. Don't think, just buy it!

Haven’t used it but my wife don’t like the fragrance. She says that she doesn’t like me smelling like a lime. She said I should use it when visiting my girlfriend.

Have been using PAA soap and really like it. I really like 1966 the smell is great and is very slick on the skin even better than PAA.

So to start buy it seriously buy it! This soap paired with the 66 aftershave balm and splash is the best combo I have ever used no other brand has ever made something as good as these are! This soap smells so good and smells even better best soap on the market!

Yup!....Matt and the team did it again! This is as good a shave package as the 1955 soap and splash combo! The scent is just what it needs to be and a good addition to an Italian-style citrus while not being "just another" example of a particular style. I'm happy to shave with this scent and soap as a morning or evening shave. Soap performance is one of the top examples of the tallow mixes I prefer. Take the plunge and add this combo to your shave collection and regular rotation. U absolutely will not regret it.

Excellent lather and performance. The scent isn’t overpowering as some others can be. I find this a perfect choice when I am scheduled to serve at mass on the weekends. When a more subtle scent is preferred.

I bought this because my old soap had been used up and the Harry’s shave cream in a tube just wouldn’t lather like I want. I am a fan of the youtube channel. When I saw just how easy it was to lather in the video, I had to have it! I love a vintage shaving experience. That’s why I was In love with the entire design and product before I bought it. After my first shave with the soap I was amazed at how it lathered with only a few swipes with my brush in the container. I paired this product with the 1966 Splash. I must say after the first shave I thought the scent was strong, but I grew accustomed to it. After the second shave it didn’t bother me at all. Now I use it everyday and hope it lasts me a good amount of time. Just to recap: lathers easily and smells fantastic, lather doesn’t dry on your face. Scents are fantastic and not too much. Would buy again. Can’t wait to see what other scents they come out with!

1966 Scent Smells Amazing and the Aftershave has Great Moisturizing Qualities. Didn't have to use an Aftershave Balm. I would Recommend this Product to Any New Wet Shaver starting out.

Love the scent of this soap. I tend to use citrus scents in the summer. Great slickness, hope you make all your other scents in a tallow base. I'll buy everyone of them if you do. Your vegan based soap have great scents just don't have the slickness of a tallow base.

So far, every shave cream from Emporium has been 1st rate. I have bought five different shave creams and rotate between them every few days. Favorite fragrance is the Sandelwood. But so far, one cannot go wrong with any that Patrick recommends as his favorite. Razor Emporium ships very quickly, and I am making them my GO TO shave supply company. I use to be a Gillette GEL cream user but no more. Why waste a can when I can use a wet shave cream and brush that is so much more fun. Besides, Gillette Gel does NOT rinse completely from my razor, but so far, all the REX SUPPLY CO. soaps rinse without a left over residue. Same for Proraso soaps. My favorite Proraso is the Euclyptus in the green cup. Thanks Patrick!

Outstanding scent, outstanding performance. I look forward to each release. The 1955 is a great everyday soap, the 1966 is like a fresh spring day, or fun summer evening. Love the tallow base, as it is easy to lather.
