Proraso Red (sandalwood)

Purchased along with a RE Best Badger Brush, this is my first soap. This is a very slick and soft soap that coats my face and allows my Henson++ to glide effortlessly. It smells great as well. I didn't realize how a small dab could go such a long way. Maybe two tip fingers and I can lather up for almost 3 passes. I only need to figure out how to scrape some into a smaller container for when I travel.

Proraso Red

Wonderful fragrance after adding water. Lathers with a very slick protective lather, with Shea butter.

Lather: 5.0
Aroma: 3.5
Shave: C+
Onward in my project to rate most soaps/creams on this site. If anybody wants one rated sooner than later, I am not above donated soaps/creams. Zero agenda, and I try to explain my ratings, although am open to questions.

I had high hopes for this one. It didn’t quite deliver as detailed to follow. Red plastic container which clasps on directly; not a twist-on. Not difficult to open.

Loaded my Silvertip badger brush and it lathered fair to good in the cup, but the larger didn’t seem to hold on application. This was consistent over multiple shaves. Some soaps seem to face this issue.

The aroma is a subtle creamy, butter scent. It doesn’t last throughout the day perceptibly. Not unpleasant during the shave, just not captivating in any sense. A bit underwhelming. If you are a ‘less is more’ guy on the aroma, your rating may improve in this regard.

The shave was fair but impacted by the lathering.

That’s my verdict.

Great Soap!

I've always been a canned soap user and will never go back. This is now my go to soap. Love the subtle scent of Sandalwood and how quick /thick it lathers.

Very nice soap. Easy to use

I also have the green version and they are both very good soaps, Easier to lather than many soaps. The lather is thick and slick. Also very reasonably priced for the quality!

Suprise!!!

Figured for $10, and a lot of love from others, it was worth a try. What a pleasant surprise. Great slickness and very good cushion. Easy to lather and by adding a little water as the shave progress it stayed slick and protective.

It looks like this tub will last a long time. And the scent was one of the most interesting takes on sandlewood that I've come across, has just the right amount of menthol, and lasts to the end of the shave.

OK - my bad

Received my Proraso Sandalwood a couple of days ago - and it was delayed because I screwed up the address. Apologies.
That said, I'm enjoying this soap; like others have said, it's a very mild but pleasant earthy scent . And it's really slick with a smooth, full lather - but, to me, it seems you need to use a lot more water when lathering than other Proraso soaps. First time I used it, it started drying out and flaking on my face as I shaved. Since then, I use a lot more water and am really happy with the results.

Proraso Sandalwood- a winner

Proraso, now in Sandalwood - wow! It's kind of like when you leave an old girlfriend but in the years you've been apart, she's become way more hot and sexy. I have 40+ soaps and creams but I decided to re-try the brand I started out with years ago. Sure it doesn't have the slickness of an artisan French milled soap but it doesn't cost $80 either. A great scent and a great shave! For when you feel like shaving like a man - not a French mime.

This is my daily "Go to" for the best shave. This soap is unlike the traditional hard pucks that take 10 minutes to lather. It's a bit softer and silkier so it whips up quickly into a full head of luscious cream. The scent is outstanding and manly and the end result is a smooth face with soft conditioning traits. highly recommend

True to its namesake, with a dab of aromatherapy

Expect the same consistency of cream along with the subtle touch of menthol found in its green brother. Only this time, imagine a faint whisp of sandalwood couched in a calm blanket of shea. It's a nice respite from the aggressive aftershave i love to follow it with!
