The Classic 40's Aristocrat from Gillette is a Twist to Open (TTO) Double Edge Razor that allows convenient loading of blades and provides moderate shaves so all hair types can get a smooth shave every time! The Aristocrat is a very popular Gillette razor because of its mechanical design, durability, and is highly recommended for beginner wet shavers.

The Gillette Aristocrat 40's style was manufactured from 1940's-1950's. Several different knurling patterns and stampings exist. If you have a particular combination please let us know.

Flawless 1940s Aristocrat – Razor Emporium Delivers Again

This made-to-order 1940s Aristocrat in Prospector finish is absolutely stunning. The razor looks and shaves like it just came off the assembly line—flawless replating, crisp mechanics, and perfect presentation. Razor Emporium once again delivered top-tier craftsmanship. Every razor I’ve had revamped by them has come back perfect. Highly recommended.

Hefty and like a tank

I can easily see why these were worth the extra dollar or two back the day. Compared to a 40's Super Speed, that I also have, it feels like a tank, in a good way. In my opinion, it shaves equivalent to the 40's Super Speed. The larger diameter handle is nice as well, compared to the 40's Super Speed.

Gillette 40's aristocrat Razor in factory finish

Seems very well restored and performs excellently. The extra care taken, like the packaging of the razor and polishing cloth with some advice for handling and usage, is really superb. 5/5

Plating is flawless, and with a deeper and richer yellow than other plating services.

Two reasons I don't give 5 stars:
- The doors don't open so smoothly, everything is not 100% aligned and I have to use my finger to open one of the doors fully. I'd expect perfect mechanics as with my other razors purchased here
- I wanted a 1948-1950 notched Aristocrat, but got a 1946-1947 without the notch. No big deal, though

I ordered this MTO razor in the gold plating. It turned out wonderful. I love the way this razor shaves. I will adding an adjustable one to my collection soon.

Rhodium 1946 Aristocrat

Made to order process is elite. Received my razor on time as promised, with excellent communication all during the process. Razor turned out perfect, and the rhodium highlights all the knurling details. Just beautiful! Don't hesitate if you are considering obtains a vintage razor from razor emporium revamp service - its first class and you'll love the finished product. Highly recommend. Great shave, first time out of the box

I've had my gold Aristocrat for about 60 days now, and it was put right into my rotation. That means I've shaved with it somewhere between 15 to 20 times.

From shave #1 thru this morning's I have been pleasantly surprised that a piece of 65+ year old equipment could function so flawlessly! I get a great shave with no irritation every time.

I highly recommend both this razor and Razor Emporium, both are great!
