$50 Mystery Box

Before purchasing this $50 Mystery Box, I read every available review. I saw customers receive razors, accessories and interesting combinations of different wet-shaving products. I understood that nothing specific was guaranteed, and I never expected that I was automatically entitled to a razor. What excited me was the mystery—the possibility of opening a thoughtfully varied assortment and discovering something unexpected.

Unfortunately, opening my box was one of the most disappointing experiences I have had with a shaving purchase.

My box contained:

* Hendrix Classics & Co. Ladies’ Man shaving soap
* Van Yulay Mountain Rain shaving soap
* Bricktown Grooming Lafayette shaving soap
* Razor Emporium pre-shave soap
* Van Yulay Mountain Rain aftershave balm
* Four miniature Geo. F. Trumper cream and skin-food samples

The individual products appear to be reputable, and their combined retail value may exceed the $50 purchase price. After researching them further, I ultimately decided to keep everything. However, value was not the problem. The problem was opening a “Mystery Box” and finding three full-sized shaving soaps, another soap intended for pre-shave, one balm and four tiny samples.

After removing the first soap, I reached back into the box hoping the next item would introduce some variety. It was another soap. Then another. By the time everything was on the table, nearly the entire experience had become one repetitive category. No blade pack, grooming tool, inexpensive accessory or anything else broke up the assortment. It felt less like opening a mystery and more like unpacking a soap shipment.

Razor Emporium later explained that these boxes are assembled beforehand in batches of approximately six containing the same products. That made the selection even more disappointing because this was not simply an unusual one-time combination—it was an assortment intentionally repeated for several customers.

Again, my criticism is not that I failed to receive an expensive razor. A single blade pack or modest accessory would have provided more balance and made the box feel thoughtfully assembled. My criticism is that a box advertised around surprise and discovery contained very little variety or excitement.

I will continue purchasing other products and services from Razor Emporium, and I hope the individual soaps perform well. However, I would never spend another $50 on one of these Mystery Boxes. Prospective buyers should understand that while some reviews show razors and varied assortments, “mystery” can also mean receiving several similar soap products from the same preassembled batch.

The products may be good. The value may be present. But the experience of opening this particular Mystery Box was an absolute letdown.

As a guy just starting out on a quest to make shaving awesome.( I have to shave daily for work so I want to go from have to to get to) the mystery box is great. Lets me try out products that I never thought about or considered it has really helped me out with my journey.

This is definitely worth it in my opinion. You get over $100 worth of stuff, just the brush was a $45 brush! Everything a new beginning shaver would need or an experienced shaver wanting to stock up and try new items. Got soaps, aftershaves, almu stick and a few accessories like blades, bowl, blade bank. They definitely do not skimp out, you WILL get your money's worth cause I have like over a years worth of soap now just from this box.

Had high hopes for this thing reading reviews. Basically a box full of don't wants and 1 useable item. Was really hoping to like this.

I’ve got several of these before. Usually get the 50 value in them. I use them to try new things and if it’s not something I really want, I gift it. I’ve got my go to aftershaves Latino and mystery? I also got to try soaps that maybe need cleared out of the inventory but are new to me. This time I got literal garbage. One of the items was a bar of soap that was so old it is more of a powder.

First time I have ever bought a mystery box from anywhere. Glad I bought this one. It’s a great value with lots of products to try. I will definitely try my luck again.

I received literally trash, be careful, Max is $20 and I Payed 50 for this.

I’m 2 months into my wet shaving journey and I’m already going overboard. I saw this pop up on the RE site and after reading the reviews and watching a few YouTube videos, I was convinced it was worth it. I was not disappointed. I received two 4oz splashes, one is a “Mystery Scent”, two 4oz soaps, a DE blade sample pack, an Omega brush, blade bank, RE pre-shave soap, RE polishing and buffing cloth, and a mix of shaving soap samples. That all totals to well over $100. This box was well worth the price. I may not use everything, but I’m excited to try out all the soaps. I don’t think I ever would have bought a boar brush, but I’m breaking it in and looking forward to trying it out.

Great for some new to wet shaving such as myself. If I didn’t have anything already this box would have covered a lot of the extras you might have forgotten to get. Would definitely get another box sometime to see what I’d get next time.

I recently purchased this mystery box out of curiosity, let me tell you I was not disappointed at all. For $50 I got so many great goodies that will keep me busy for a while but more than that what I received opened me up to new products I would have probably never considered or just maybe over looked. Definitely worth the money since you definitely get a lot more than what you paid for. You won’t be disappointed. If you choose to start on this.

I am new to DE shaving. Was hoping to receive an assortment of products so that I could dip my toes into the world of DE shaving without having to think too much or spend too much. I was pleasantly surprised to find in my box a variety of shaving products that will keep me busy experimenting for the foreseeable future. I won’t tell all, but think soaps, aftershaves, blades, etc. A little of everything! Can’t wait to buy another!

Great value ! Even with me being located overseas and having add the extra shipping costs this box was great value . Don't worry , the box is not full of stickers and other bits to pad out the box. What you get inside THIS box is good cross mix of items , with the main focus being quality shave products .. and who doesn't love a good quality mystery.

Razor Emporium once again hooked it up. Awesome quality products, quality samples. Well worth it...but don't take my advice, get one for yourself and you be the judge.

I went a little crazy this is my 3rd box since January! Once again a fun way to try different products and add to my growing collection. I got a sample of the new Lavander shave soap from RE and I really like it alot. Lavander is a calming scent and makes the shaving routine even better. Also got a sample pack of blades. Perma Sharp, which needs some time to get use to. Personna Red, holy crap they are sharp! Some others that I've yet to try. Love these boxes and have been telling some coworkers about them and Razor Emporium. Again great fun but I should probably wait a little longer before I get another box ??. I will be purchasing another after shave splash very soon ?.

I received my second Box and I have to say this is a brillant way to learn about the different products and what works best for me. I also got a Merkur travel razor, love it. I was actually considering a new razor and looking at Merkur. I also got some great blades.Matt and his team are amazing and take vintage shaving to an all new level. Many Thanks and I will definitely be buying more products from Razor Emporium.

The mystery box is awesome. I got a lot of products to try without breaking the Bank.
I've been a safety razor shaver for quite some time but I've been looking to try different shaving soaps and pre shave creams ect... search the web was a bit of a waste,so the Box is great. The only issue I had was a sample bottle of what I think is after shave was leaking a little. The bottle itself was affected with the Label not ledgable. No big deal, I look forward to buying again in the near future. The Website and YouTube Videos are also awesome, I am interested in trying straight razor shaving next. Keep up the great work.

I got a mystery box from my fiancee for my birthday. Which I was extremely happy to receive. It had a verity of soap samples and blades. Along with a tube of goerge f trumper shaving cream and a bottle of skin food. My box also came with a some other goodies and a beautiful Edwin Jagger razor. Which I was very surprised to get. Seeing how much was in my box already. The price of the razor alone. Was more than the price of the entirely box. I can definitely say. I was blown away by razor emporium's mystery box. I'd definitely recommend trying one for yourself. Their customer service was top notch as well. Thanks again guys.

I purchased the mystery box a few times. I now use just about every item that was sent. Will be purchasing again in future.

All items are new and quality with a worth far exceeding the cost of the box, I am thinking that these items are off the shelf from the Razor Emporium store that may be slow moving or not as popular and taking up shelf space from more popular items.
Items from well known brands like PAA, Fine Accoutrements, Tabac and others.
I have several of the items from this box that I have already purchased and probably pain as much for those items as this box cost me! This is a very good deal, I do not think all mystery boxes will contain the brands and items I received but there was NO cheap or crappy items!
I will check back in six months to see if more are available to buy another.

I won't say exactly how good of a deal this was as yours may vary but in my one box that I ordered I got an aftershave that alone cost $45 from what I see, I only had tow complaints, but neither of these are really complaints, I got a full size and a sample tube of poraso, but Ill toss the sample in my travel kit, the other "complaint" is that I got a beard oil despite the fact that I never have a beard, my cousin loves it however. A+ mystery box in my books, no real junk items either, all popular and quality items in my limited experience.

Alot fun and great fun going through box

Initially, I received very little in my mystery box. It was good, quality stuff. A nice boar brush included.

However, the total value of everything was about $35-$40. I contacted customer service about it since it was below $50. They indicated my box was sent incomplete in error and they sent me supplement items. Great items in the second shipment and I'm using them. Although, one soap product had some kind of essential oil in it that made my skin react to it. I learned not to buy that product. I contacted RE about it and they sent feedback to the manufacturer. I am currently using several things it came with.

It's great way to get random products if you want to try something new, but not sure what. High quality products and RE's customer service is fantastic.

It was okay. The box contained a number of items which was cool. And it’s fun opening a mystery box because of course you have no idea what the box contains. The issue is the quality of the products. To put it in perspective, you could say this was a beginners kit. Good enough for those just learning but not impressive for the seasoned wet-shaver. The blades and soaps are fun to try.

Definetly got products worth more than what i paid for.
was a fun experience to get a suprise of shaving items. Some things i was happy for and some items was ok.

I got a mystery box and I really liked it at first and I liked the idea of getting random things. I guess I liked it too much and started getting a mystery box every month and I found quickly that it's a lot of the same stuff every time. I even think some of the stuff is used product. I would recommend getting one but keep it at just one

I have been curious about this mystery box since I first shopped with razor emporium. I live in a small town that has no wet shaving supplies, even at the CVS… And I’m relatively new to wet shaving, so it has been hard to bite the bullet on any non- razor products because i don’t want to purchase a scent I do not like. I was happily surprised by most of the stuff in the box but i don’t think i got anything crazy, (no rex razor).I watched a Greg Tardiff video of him opening one of these. And we definitely got different products. I’m afraid to purchase another one because I might get yet another razor bank or more Alum sticks (which might be a good thing). Will probably purchase again… maybe even tonight… actually i will wait till i get a coupon code.

I have absolutely no regrets with this purchase, and plan to probably buy another. Haha I have fun with the surprise and random aspect of not knowing what I’m getting, and will say that they made it worth the value. Can definitely recommend if you like a surprise and want some random new things to add to your collection.
