Ralf Aust 5/8”

The Razor steel is nice, the scales are less than desirable. The scales are very flimsy and cheap. If I would have known this, I would have passed.

Ralf Aust 5/8 round tip “shave Ready”

Very good razor but definitely not shave ready.

RALF AUST: Best Steel Around

Holds and edge and allows beginners to wield the blade easily. I own two Ralf Aust and plan to own no others.

Ralf Aust•5/8•Round Tip Hollow Ground

I was told this razor came ready to shave. I decided to test that theory. They weren’t kidding. Since that first shave I have only stropped after each shave. I have been using the razor almost 3 weeks now and the shaves just keep getting better. This razor sets flat on a flat surface plate with no wobble so it should be no problem to hone. My Gold Dollar had a serious wobble on my flat surface. It required some serious reprofile work before I could hone an even edge across the blade. I would love to get a Ralf Aust with a nice wood handle but that can wait. After all, you shave with the steel not the wood. If you’re on the fence about this razor, don’t be. This is a quality razor.

It’s my first straight razor and I couldn’t have pick a better starter blade. Thanks to the guys a razor emporium who made the great suggestion.

If you are a newby...

I am in the infant stage of straight razor shaving. I started with the gold dollar razor. Don’t make the same mistake I did. Buy this razor. I know it is probably more than you want to spend but you won’t regret it. Much better shave than the gold dollar.

Amazing starter razor

This was the first razor I have purchased and I am blown away. Although the price is just north of $100 the quality and hand craftsmanship is felt with every pass. It truly took away the initial worry of straight razor shaving and gave me confidence. I do not feel as though I would be shaving as well as I am now with a Gold Dollar or a Dovo. The handle is the handle and for a first razor for learning you don't need fancy. the money is in the metal. German forged, German hand honed and finished, That's where you get the feeling of confidence with this razor. Read the articles and watch the videos on this craftsman and you will see for the money it can't be beat.
