Tune-Up Service

SKU: TuneUp

Description

Have a razor that needs to be cleaned, polished and adjusted? Tune it up!

What We Do

Vintage safety razors pack some of the most bang for the buck, but knowing if they are fully functional, hygienic and shave-ready is a different story. Starting at $29, we offer a professional restoration that helps bring your old-school razor back to its glory days.

*Please Note: Specialty razors include Bottom Dial Fatboy, Red Dot Fatboy, and Toggle Safety Razors.

How it Works

  1. We first clean your razor in our industrial ultrasonic machine to remove any soap scum, mineral deposits and grime. Disassembly is carried out for the best results whenever possible.
  2. Next we carefully polish the inside and out of your razor, bringing the vintage metal up to a high luster.
  3. Mechanical adjustments are made to ensure the best functionality of your razor.
  4. We carry out any painting that is needed - numbers on adjusters, tips on super speeds and black handles. We use color-matched powder coating that exactly replicates the original factory colors and process.
  5. Razors are again cleaned and sanitized before being lubricated and mailed back home. We include a free Polishing Cloth that will safely keep the shine on your vintage find!

Why It Matters

Professionally servicing means you'll get the best shaves possible knowing that your razor is functioning as it was designed to. Eliminate common problems that affect shaving performance such as:

  • Bent guards
  • Uneven blade gap
  • Frozen adjusters
  • Loose handles
  • Jammed doors
  • Twist To Open issues
  • Broken Clicker Spring (if you have an adjustable and it doesn't click anymore select the above option)

    Awesome Job!

This was the second razor I sent in. The first one was for the revamp service and this one was for the tune up. It was a 1965 Gillette Super Speed that was in decent shape but I'm sure it had never been serviced. First of all, it came back sparkling! It looks beautiful with the cleaning and buffering they do. Honestly, it looks brand new to me. Secondly, it clearly works better than before I sent it. The action of the twist tip is way smoother than before - same thing with the doors. Not sure how much they adjusted the actual safety bars but I do get a better shave from the razor. I highly recommend the tune-up service for that vintage razor you have been using. You won't know what you've been missing until you do!

    Tune Up - Adjustable

Great service and got my razor back good as new. But would have been nice if they noted what they found wrong with it ( bent, worn, misaligned. Also I didn’t receive a polishing cloth with the return of my razor.

    Gillette 1.95 Fatboy Rhodium

The Gillette 1.95 Fatboy Rhodium that I had ordered came with a few quirks. When I told Razor Emporium they immediately told me to sent it back and they fixed all the bugs I had with it, no charge! There service is great! You guys are doing a great job, keep it up.

Tune Up for Gillette Slim Adjustable

My razor went in not functioning properly and came back looking fantastic and fully functioning! I had tried a number of home solutions before deciding to let some pros take care of it and while it did cost, now that I can properly care for the razor it will continue to work well for a long time. It did take a while (longer than their advertised estimates) to get through the queue, however it made was finished right on their projected timeline when I received the initial checkpoint email. Once it was actually being worked on it was done and back to me in just a few days.
