WHAT WE DO

Our Straight Razor Restoration Service is the perfect solution for daily shavers and heirloom razors alike. Whether you want a shave-ready straight razor or museum quality keepsake, we are committed to preserving history and helping you get the most from your wet shave experience.

HOW IT WORKS

  • Each razor is assessed for its specific needs. To safely remove afflicted metal during polishing, our team uses specialized compounds and rouges. Our experienced staff, safely maintain the integrity of your steel while buffing and polishing your razor and scales to look their best. This process removes pitting, rust, patina and damage, leaving the metal clean and hygienic.
  • We work to restore and preserve the original handles (scales) and will polish them to look their best. However, scales that have been contributing to rusting the blade are now removed and replaced with handcrafted custom scales designed by you if need be. Our website makes ordering custom scales easy by standardizing shapes, materials, and cost. Just select your options above and get a preview of what your straight razor will look like.
  • For that close shave, razors now move on to the sharpening process wherein our in-house Hone-Meister Eric takes them through an individualized stone progression. With an easel of over 12 stones to choose from; natural to synthetic, coticule to Chosera, exotic Japanese stones like Naniwa to tried and true performers like Norton, we have everything needed to give you the keenest edge you’ve ever experienced.

WHY IT MATTERS

Our Straight Razor Restoration Service was created with two purposes in mind: the everyday shaver that wants clean steel, beautiful custom scales, and the sharpest shaving edge; as well as the family heirloom straight razor, ready to be passed down to future generations, perfectly preserved in museum quality condition.

POLISHING BREAKDOWN

We offer two different polishing options so your razor can return home exactly how you intend!

Polish: light metal removal using polishing wheels only. Removes active rust, minor imperfections in blade like honing scratches, restores shine.

Re-Grind and Polish: Each razor must be individually evaluated. Regrind and Polish removes a good amount of metal through grinding wheels. Good for razors in really bad shape. Removes as many imperfections as possible without changing the razors over all shape. Note, any etchings on the blade face will not survive a regrind.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. "Add to Cart" this service, check-out and make payment.
  2. Download and fill out the Revamp Service form that will be included in your emailed invoice.
  3. Send in your razor however you choose - USPS Small Flat Rate box is our recommendation.
  4. We'll let you know when we receive your razor and keep you updated during the process.
  5. Our turn-around time is 7-10 days once we receive your razor.

Open up a New York store, please? Soon?

The Razor Emporium is easily the best. I spent a few weeks trying to research a place to get a vintage straight razor restored in NY with no luck. In a city like this, you'd think there would be more possibilities. I called places and was never able to get through. One place even said on their website, "We have the pleasure of working in an arena without many competitors, if any; however, this doesn't mean we are less than professional. To the contrary, we are sought after and have a reputation for excellence, working with many elite professionals." - which comes across as totally arrogant to me. Who knows, they may be "the best" but I'll never know because they ignored my calls and emails. Stinks when you can't find something in the place where you live, but in the end I spent more time looking in NY than it took for the turnaround with my razor restoration through RE. I got through immediately to RE and was helped right away. Being completely new to the world of straight razors, I was guided by RE toward ordering the right product/service and now have my great grandfather's 100-year old razor in perfect condition to use and pass on to the next generation. The mirror finish is beautiful, the scales are beautiful, and because of the incredible restoration, I have a new-found enjoyment in shaving, which used to be an annoying part of the day. If RE moved to the city, you would clean up. I've been in a couple of fancy stores asking about gear and they always try to sell the most expensive thing instead of the right thing. None of them seem to know where to get a razor restored either. I learned more from your youtube videos than going to several store and asking questions in person. That's sad. Please help us out.

    Beautiful Restoration

I had been combing through antique shops looking for decent straight razors and took a chance on a Geneva Cutlerly Company razor. The metal was very tarnished, a couple spots of rust, but the edge looked fine, a little used. Razor Emporium restoration made this razor look new with just a little petina where the tiny rusts spots were. I now shave with it everyday and looking for my next antique find.

    Looks even better...

My Handle was plastic and had broken a chunk from the hinge where the blade attached. Had it honed as well. Surpassed my expectations. I knew it would nicer, but man when I opened up the package. my Fiancee stated, "That looks even better than before. It looks awesome." Been using it and it is a great shave. I selected the diamond point handle. After i ordered, I contacted Razor Emporium to see if they could get a handle with streaks. Not just straight black horn. Looks really awesome. Worth the money. Thanks Razor Emporium. Keep up the great work. Abel, Georgetown, TX
