Rex Ambassador

This is a fabulous razor! The quality is out of this world! You can't beat the warranty either! Many will think the price is high, but considering this razor can become a family heirloom, it is well worth it! I consider this razor to be the modern "Gillette Fatboy" !! I couldn't be happier! I may actually purchase another one to pass along!

Quality Piece

After hearing many glowing reviews on this razor, I decided to invest in it. The razor's got heft and feels solid in the hand. I heard that Matt had tested this razor with a Gillette Perma-Sharp blade, so, that is what I used for my first shave with this razor. I had a very smooth and comfortable shave as a result. This is a beautiful and quality piece to have in your den. My only nit pick is that the finish is not 100% perfect. I could still detect some micro scratches and dings on certain angles of light. That said, I don't think any CNC-ed piece could be perfectly finished without painstakingly polishing it. I don't even feel it and it didn't effect the quality of the shave. Side Note: When removing it from the box, I quickly noticed the razor head is covered by something that looks a lot like stubble. The staff swiftly clarified that it is, in fact, lint from the packaging and NOT stubble. Just thought I would mention that to any fellow shavers that would have a similar experience.

Quality Product

I compared this razor to my 46-47Gillette Aristocrat, SuperSpeed Red Flair Tip, Parker Slant, Rockwell 6C, and Vikings Blade Emperor Augustus. For my skin type, the Ambassador outperformed the Parker Slant. The Slant is too harsh on my sensitive skin areas. Compared to the rest, I could not tell a difference between the shaves. The advantage the Ambassador has over the Gillette's is the ability to adjust the aggressiveness. I crank it up to 6 to shave my face and shape my coarse beard. It is like a hot knife through butter where the non-adjustable type takes a few blade buffs to prevent tugging. When compared to the Emperor Augustus, which is adjustable, the performance was the same but the quality of the products differ. The Augustus has a coating that has begun to peel beneath where the razorblade is placed. The Ambassador does not have this problem since it is all stainless with a lifetime guarantee. There are much cheaper razors available that provide a great shave. If you can afford this product, it should last a lifetime and will provide a shave as good as any razor out there.

REX Ambassador

The REX Ambassador is a superb razor. I've added this razor to my rotation and am very pleased with the results. Aesthetically strong, but where it excels is the shave. Comparable or better than anything in my rotation for its' shaving prowess.
