A Word of Caution

The Ambassador is solid and heavy, and while the handle is very grippy, it is still possible to fumble and drop it during a one-handed grip change. This is especially true if you're new to it and not used to the weight and balance. This happened to me, and sadly, as a result, it dented the metal ring around my sink's drain. Thankfully the razor itself remains completely unharmed. I waited a year to post this review to be sure: I like this razor despite the cost and collateral damage. I'm the type to spend more for good tools and take care of them to last forever. The Ambassador's materials and build are far better than any analog adjustable DE razor I had seen. To be fair, I'll admit I haven't looked much in the past year. There's just one nagging question. The Ambassador obviously contains a spring, but I have no idea what it's made of. 10/10, would dent my sink again.

Rex Ambassador

First and foremost, you can have the best quality razor, however, if it’s nit an efficient tool in my opinion the craftsmanship doesn’t matter. For me, there was no learning curve to this razor. This razor provides a very natural blade and it was love at first shave. I do not understand the grumbling in regards to the razor being aggressive. My first pass is on 6, second pass on 5 and my buffing pass is on 4 as well. All with a Kai blade. Matt you did a great job on this!

Luxury razor that delivers near flawlessly

First impressions: When I first held the razor, I was blown away. It's hefty without being weighty, well-balanced, and has an incredible grip. The size fits me perfectly. First shaving impressions: I've only a couple of shaves with multiple passes under my belt, and both have been very smooth with very little irritation. I'm confident my results will improve even more as I experiment with blades and settings. I'm certainly looking forward to experimenting! First concerns: Only 1, and it's minor: I have trouble aligning the dial when loading a blade (which is probably user error, but I mention it to be thorough), and I can adjust the setting from 1, past 6, to approximately 2.5. On almost any other razor I wouldn't care, but given the price and how perfect everything else seems makes this small detail stand out. Overall, however, the Ambassador is a joy to behold and to shave with, and ordering through Razor Emporium was a wonderful experience. I would recommend it to others if they have the cash to splurge, but I'm not quite ready to deem this my holy grail of razors just yet.

great razor but takes time

I really do like this razor. Though when it was shipped to me, it was loose in the box. It was not seated in the cushioning, so just banging around in the box; seems fine though, as this razor is solid! I really like the shave I get, though it takes time (at least for me) to figure out the best blade, and setting to use in different situations. I'm getting there, but have my share of nicks... but getting much better with it, and enjoying how I can dial in different settings.
