I also own a Merkur 23C and, along with the 38C, they both make excellent razors for beginners as it is almost impossible to cut yourself with these - even when using a Feather blade. I like the 38C more since it has a long handle and is heavier. You will have to do 3-passes minimum to get a close shave though. Great build quality and good pricing from Razor Emporium as always.

First safety razor, ever. SO MUCH DIFFERENT than a cartridge. It cut so close, I could actually “hear” the stubble being shaved off. Awesome !!!

This thing is nice to shave with. Literally do not apply pressure. Only guide it with correct angle on face. Only reason for a non 5 star review is that with this weight it is a little bulky and hard to see around. Overall a superb safety razor!

First time using a safety razor no nicks or cuts with a mild aggressive razor left me with a baby smooth face.
