The first time I used it well to get the angle right is a little harder to get. The Merkur is good but for me the changeable blade once seated it's a little to shallow and I don't feel the blade as I begin shaving. Please don't misunderstanding me the Merkur 33C is a good razor but for me I need an adjustable razor.

I like the design of this razor because I like the traditional length (short) handle as well as the 3-piece design. The shave it provides is a bit too mild for me, though. It is hard for me to get a truly close shave in 3 passes (1 with, 2 across) using Lord Platinum blades. I have medium beard growth (need to shave every 1.5-2 days to look clean). If you use a sharper blade (e.g. Feather) you may be able to get a more efficient shave with this razor. However, I tried shaving with the included Merkur blade and cut myself up. If you are able to tolerate sharper blades because you have less sensitive skin or better technique, or if you have milder beard growth, this razor might work for you. I am currently looking for a razor that shaves more efficiently using milder blades without cutting up my face. Hope this helps.
