If you have a straight razor that has seen better days and is in need of polishing, sharpening or both, Razor Emporium is here to help! Vintage straight razors are often plagued with rust, discoloration, and have cutting edges that are dulled from decades of improper storage or abuse. With our years of experience and hundreds of razors saved, we can make your family heirloom or recent purchase "shave-ready" and professionally restored once again!

Our Straight Razor Revamp™ Process - All razors are first assessed for their unique needs as selected by the customer. To carry out proper polishing of the steel, we utilize specialized compounds and rouges to safely remove the afflicted metal. What's left is a beautiful new surface that is polished to shine bright- making your straight razor look as clean and new. We also lightly polish and clean the handles of your razor - however older materials such as horn, bone, ivory and celluloid have to be treated with special care and heavy polishing is not done. The total process requires time, patience and an understanding of metallurgy in order to safely maintain temperament and integrity of the steel, allowing your blade to move on to the next step: honing.
Your razor is then sharpened utilizing our
™ method- giving your blade a refined and keen cutting edge. To do this, we employ one of the finest honemeisters in the community- Lee from A Sharper Razor. With over 10 years and hundreds of straight razors, knives and swords under his belt, Lee will be sure to put a keen and refined edge on your blade! Using a variety of natural and synthetic stones, your razor is carefully and meticulously sharpened to provide the cleanest and most comfortable shaves. Finally, your razor is stropped on leather and canvas, oiled and packaged to be sent back to you Shave-Ready and put into immediate usage or storage.
Qualified Razors - With hundreds of razors successfully restored, we have a fairly good idea of what is achievable from this process. Razors that suffer from deep pitting and corrosion the steel, especially of the hollow ground variety usually cannot have too much metal removed from them, less you compromise the blades integrity and tempering. Also, we generally don't replace or repair razor scales/handles, but do buff and clean the existing ones to add to the over all restored look to your razor.
